- Howard Willard, Jr., lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was 85. He was born in Niagara Falls on December 22, 1933, a son of the late Howard and Anna Dell (Ratkay) Willard, Sr. He attended local schools and then entered the United States Army serving his country proudly until his honorable discharge in 1961.
Howard worked at Occidental Chemical for many years, retiring as a supervisor in 1996. He returned to the workforce as a delivery driver for several area dental labs for over 22 years before retiring for good.
Howard enjoyed working, watching football, keeping his cars clean and going to the casino.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Faye (Price) Willard and four children: Howard (Sharon) Willard III, David (Cathy) Willard, Mark (Deb) Willard and Lori (Robert) Sherwood. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Alexis Willard, Scott and Rachel Sherwood and Jennifer Russell, two great-grandchildren: Nevaeh and Gianna, one sibling: Ruth Downey and his poodle Buddy. He was predeceased by his grandson Matthew Willard four siblings: Donald Willard, Margaret Ferchen, Norma Siford and Dorothy Lundy.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue Tuesday from 4-7 P.M. where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 A.M. with Pastor Laura Norris-Buisch of Riverside Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be private in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Mr. Willard’s name to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport NY 14094.
