Deuel C. Woodward

NIAGARA FALLS — Deuel C. Woodward, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2012 in Clair Bridge of Niagara in North Tonawanda, NY, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born on August 22, 1929 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Bessie (Stevens) Woodward.
Mr. Woodward was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. Deuel attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He also attended the University of Kentucky. Mr. Woodward served in the United States Army, during the Korean War, while stationed in Germany, from February 12, 1951 until his honorable discharge on January 25, 1953. For many years, Deuel was the owner and operator of the former Woodward Insurance Agency in Niagara Falls, NY. On November 22, 1979, he married the former Agnes M. Reid.
Mr. Woodward was a member of the Niagara Falls Rotary Club since 1953. Deuel served on the Board of the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club, Oakwood Cemetery and Claudia Ash and Sons Limited. He was also a director of the former Permanent Savings Bank. Mr. Woodward enjoyed playing bridge, history, walking Goat Island and gardening.
In addition to his beloved wife of thirty-two years, Mr. Woodward is survived by four children, D. Chase (Diane) Woodward of San Diego, CA, Daniel Woodward of Chicago, IL, Andrew Woodward of Arizona and Celeste Woodward of California; three step-children, J. Richard (Karen) Briscall of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, Tammy (Duffy) Johnston of Youngstown, NY and Kevin (Nikki) Briscall of Cape Coral, FL; four grandchildren, Darlene Woodward, Joseph and Whitney Perre and Emily Briscall and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Deuel was predeceased by one brother, Charles "Chuck" Woodward; and one sister, Priscilla (late Don) Walck.
There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial offerings may be made to the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club, 725-17th Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14301. Arrangements were entrusted to the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007).
