Edwin H. "Hoot" Schroeder, of North Tonawanda, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2009 after enjoying 95 years of extraordinarily good health. Mr. Schroeder was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, the Gratwick Hose Fire County, and the Volunteer Fireman's Benevolent Assn. He worked as a machine repairman for the J. H. Williams County, retiring in 1979. He enjoyed traveling and woodworking and began skydiving at the age of 90.He was the husband of the late Ruth Schroeder, who died in 1989. Beloved father of Gary Schroeder of North Tonawanda and Lee (Randy) Gath of Wheatfield; grandfather of Todd and Troy Schroeder, Ryan, Cory and Lissa Gath, and the late Erin Ruth Gath. He was the brother of the late June Stoeckel and Dale Schroeder; uncle of several nieces and nephews.Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd., on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:30 AM. Interment in St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
