WHEATFI.ELD - Harold A. Proefrock, 69, of Nash Road, died Sunday (May 27, 1990) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Altamont, ILl., and moved to the area in1940. He was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, where be was a former Sunday school teacher, superintendent, trustee and elder. He was an exempt member of the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company, which he had belonged to for 38 years.
Proefrock was the former owner of A & H Boulevard Garage and was a former operator of the Bergholz Garage for about 20 years. He was also employed at Sisson Building Supplies for several years before his retirement in 1965.
He served as vice president of the Niagara Lutheran Brotherhood Branch No. 8132 and was a former president of the Niagara Area and Eastern District of the Brotherhood of the former American Lutheran Church.
Proefrock is survived by his wife, Winifred (Milleville) Proefrock; one daughter, Joanne Haniszewski of Pendleton; one brother, Vernon Proefrock of Prescott, Ariz.; and three sisters, Dorothy Hack of Effingham, ILl., Evelyn Herrick of Summerfield, Fla., and Mildred Conrad of Utica, ILl.
He is also survived by three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz, where a memorial service by the Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company will be held at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. David B. Menz in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road, Bergholz.
Interment will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. James Lutheran Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.

Services for Harold A. Proefrock, 69, a former garage operator, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday in St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2437 Niagara Road. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
The Bergholz Volunteer Fire Company will hold a memorial service at 6:45 this evening in the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road.
