Betty "June" (nee VanVolkinburg) Martin, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. Born on August 24, 1926 in Austin, PA, she was the daughter of the late Amsey and Mabel (Glover) VanVolkinburg. On December 14, 1946, she married Donald "Buzzy" Martin, Sr. He predeceased her on September 12, 1997.Mrs. Martin came to Niagara Falls, NY during her senior year in high school. June worked as a waitress for many local restaurants and later worked as a secretary for the Carpenters Union Local #280, in their funds office, until her retirement in the early 1970's. She was a member of Holy Family Parish on the Tuscarora Indian Reservation and through her husband she was also a member of the 'Lower Mohawk' band of Six Nations Reserve in Canada. Mrs. Martin enjoyed knitting, crocheting, puzzles, reading and gardening. June liked to spend summers at their other residence in Pennsylvania.Mrs. Martin is survived by four children, Michael (Linda) Martin, David (Judy) Martin, Donald Martin, Jr. and April Martin, all of Niagara Falls, NY; 10 grandchildren, Angel Martin, Rhonda (Ken) Alper, Tracy Martin, Joseph (Angela) Martin, Tina (Ethan) Huber, Tiffany (Mike) Walsh, Tammy (Dave) Pavicich, Donald Scott Martin, Michael Martin and Shaunah (Brad) Fuegen; and 11 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Finn Alper, Julianna and Elijah Huber, Olivia and Jason Martin, Henry Walsh, Matthew and Maria "Mimi" Pavicich and Mariah and Peter Martin. June is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Anna (Bill) Morgan of Texas, Edward (late Diane) VanVolkinburg of Nevada and Mabel 'Babe' (Dan) Segar of Niagara Falls, NY; one sister-in-law, Florence 'Bubbles' (late Edgar) Smith of Niagara Falls, NY; many nieces, nephews and cousins and her faithful dog, T.J. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Charles VanVolkinburg.Friends may call on Sunday from 3-7 PM at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, LASALLE PARK CHAPEL, 2215 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY (297-9007), where funeral services will begin on Monday, July 6th at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev.
