NIAGARA FALLS — Franklin Phillips, of Niagara Falls, died on Monday, December 26, 2011 in Crestwood Health Care Center. He was 92. He was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on October 25, 1919, the son of Franklin and Lydia (Strasburg) Phillips.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II. Mr. Phillips retired from E.I. DuPont Company in 1972 as a painter. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping in his younger years, tinkering in his garage and reading.
Mr. Phillips was predeceased by his wife, Cecelia, on November 28, 2009. Survivors include four children, Lydia (Howard) Rowe of Sanborn, Mary Herrington of Sanborn, Edith (Larry) Potts of Barker and Michael Phillips of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Betty Robbins (James) and Marion Arnold (Robert), both of Niagara Falls; thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by siblings, David Phillips, Edgar Phillips; Lillian Moriarty, Jeanette McAlee, Grace Sabin, Dorothy Kreutinger and Edith Krell.
Private funeral services will be held today at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC. Interment will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria. If desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
