- Albert K. Genet, age 81, entered into rest on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Lockport Memorial Hospital. Born November 9, 1927, in Gasport, he was the son of the late August and Rose (nee Raduns) Genet. Albert attended Gasport High School and then served in the US Navy from July 9, 1948 until June 23, 1952 as an Electrician Mate Fireman. He was stationed in Green Cove Springs, FL in the Submarine group 2 Florida group Atlantic Fleet. After the service he married Carol Mann, July 10, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lockport. He retired from Niagara County Highway Department in 1979, where he was a sign painter and erector. Albert was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Middleport, the Royalton Zoning Board of Appeals for 35 years, 10 years as chairman. He was also a member of the Royalton Republican Committee for 20 years and chairman for 15 years and a member of the Niagara County Republican Committee for 20 years, and a member of its Executive Committee. He enjoyed restoring antique and old cars, watching old movies, stock car races, traveling with family, and was especially proud of his craftsmanship in building truck campers. Albert had lived in Royalton Center for over 50 years. His loving wife, Carol Genet survives him. Dear father of Joanne (David) Haseley of Middleport, Ellen (Chris) Baxter of the United Kingdom and the late Mark L. Genet. Brother of Helen (Donald) Toennissen of Ocala, FL and the late Alvin, John and Roy. Also survived by four step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are family are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held from Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 133 Telegraph Road, Middleport, on Friday at 11:00 AM, with visitation from 10:00–11:00 AM at the church. The Reverend David S. Triplett will officiate. Interment will be in Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery, Gasport, NY. Memorials appreciated to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
