MERKLE - Robert L. Merkle, 56, of North Tonawanda, unexpectedly Tuesday (December 8, 1981) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital. Born in Detroit, Mich., he had formerly been a resident of Kenmore and was presently residing in North Tonawanda and was the son of the late Carl and Lillian Merkle. Mr. Merkle had been employed at Chevrolet Motor Div. (Metal Castings Plant) in the Town of Tonawanda for the past 35 years. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Laymens League, American Foundrymen's Society and was a member and past president of Brighton Volunteer Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth M. (nee Stolzenburg) Merkle; three daughters, Mrs. Alan (Nancy) Bolduc of North Tonawanda, the Misses Judy I. Merkle and Wendy S. Merkle, both at home; a son, Larry S. Merkle of Tonawanda; a brother, Ralph (Mary) Merkle of Brighton, Mich.; two uncles, John and Ben Miller, both of Mt. Clemens, Mich., and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Morgan and William Sts., Tonawanda. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda at 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Dr. Arnold E. Krompardt. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church
