- SMITH - Claire B. (nee Hird) Of N. Tonawanda, NY. Passed away in Bismarck, ND, on November 18, 2015, age 90; beloved wife of the late Noland E. Smith; loving mother of Brian (Yvonne) Smith of Bismarck, ND and Craig (Barbara) Smith of N. Tonawanda, NY; cherished grandmother of Andrea, Erin, Eric, Jeffrey and Rachel; adored great-grandmother of Lydia, Sophia, Kaleigh, Molly, Ella, Jacob and Madison; dear sister of the late Edward Hird; also survived by nieces and nephews. There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at The Chapel at Crosspoint, 500 Crosspoint Parkway, Getzville, NY, at 11 AM. Interment to be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Claire's memory to The Chapel at Crosspoint, Camp Good Days & Special Times, Niagara Hospice, or the American Cancer Association. Claire was a devout member of The Chapel at Crosspoint and volunteered with the wardrobe department for the Christmas and Easter programs and enjoyed her time spent in the church nursery, with Lifelinks and being a service greeter. She treasured time with family and friends, especially with the one's who called her nana and great-nana.
