MIDDLEPORT — Mrs. May Hawkes, 249 Davison Road, Lockport, died Thursday afternoon in the Lockport Memorial Hospital.She was the widow of Charles E. Hawkes who died in 1974.Born Sept. 7, 1894, in Middleport, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mattie (Cooper) Schilling. She and her husband had raised show horses and jumpers at their home on Stone Road. She was a volunteer at the United Church Colony Home in Gasport and a member of the Middleport Senior Citizens.Surviving are one sister, Lulu Stender of Lockport; several nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law,Edith Schilling of Middleport.She was also the sister of the late Clifford Schilling, Frank Schilling,Albert Schilling, Emma Slender and Ethel Schilling.There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bates-Wallace and Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St.,'with the Rev. James Massie Jr.officiating.Burial will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.Memorial gifts may be made to a charity of one's choice.
