Richard "Dick" R. Hardy passed away on February 2, 2013, age 90, born in North Tonawanda, NY, son of the late Henry John and Viola (Pieper) Hardy. Survived by his beloved partner and constant companion, Gloria Lichorobic of North Tonawanda; husband of the late Letha (Thom) Hardy; husband of the late Minnie (Oliver Bray) Hardy; husband of the late Betty (Martin Minnie) Hardy; brother of the late LaVearn Hardy, the late Iverna Hardy, and Dorothy Hardy. Also survived by daughter, Iverna Vanessa (Dale) Newsom of Oklahoma City, OK; step-daughters, Judith Simmons of Knoxville, TN and Nancy Bray of Amherst, NY; and step-son, Ward Bray of Amherst, NY; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hardy served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, landing at Omaha Beach on D-Day and serving in the European campaign. Mr. Hardy served his community for many years in the Delaware Hose Volunteer Fire Company, Tonawanda. Dick was a retired welder and truck driver, having become well-known across town while working many years for Century Auto Parts.
Family and friends may call on SATURDAY after 9:00 AM at the WATTENGEL Funeral Home, 307 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda, where Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Delaware Hose Volunteer Fire Company, Tonawanda, NY.
