- Retired Tonawanda Police Chief Dies
TONAWANDA - George C. Marohn, 75, of 67 Elm St., a retired city police chief vacationing at his summers home in Hinsdale, died Friday (Oct. 8,1971) in Olean General Hospital. A lifelong resident of this city, he was a member of the police force for 30 years, serving as shief for 23 years before retiring in 1961. He was later employed by Bell Aerosystems for six years, retiring in 1967. Mr. Marohn was a World War I Army veteran and a member of the Tonawandas Post 264, American Legion; Tonawanda Lodge 247, F&AM, and the Salem United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his widow, the former Norma L. Duwe, three daughters, Miss Norma L. Marohn, Mrs. Carl (Marion) Jaeger, both of this city, and Mrs. Ronald (June) Fox of North Tonawanda; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Krell of Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Mildred Mislin of North Tonawanda, and five grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Roth Funeral Home by the Rev. Carl H. A. Rest. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Park. The family will be present at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday. A memorial service will be
held at the funeral home by Tonawandas Post at 7 tonight.
