Karen V. Haseley, 74, of Niagara Falls, New York, was called to rest on March 29, 2022. Born on August 11, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Bennie and Geraldine (Burns) Hill.
As a lifelong resident of Niagara County, Karen graduated from Lasalle High School in 1965. She was part of Niagara County Community College’s first graduating class of Registered Nurses in 1969, and worked at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital, Niagara University, and Niagara Hospice during the 1970’s. Karen was well-known for her singing talents, and sang as a soloist in numerous weddings, funerals, and church services throughout the 70’s and 80’s. She was a journalist for the Lockport Union-Sun and Journal from 1982 – 1985. She became a politically active volunteer for numerous Niagara County Democrats throughout the late 1980’s and into the 90’s. She graduated from Niagara University in 1988 with a dual bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Marketing as well as a minor in English. She went on to work in the marketing department of Sevenson Environmental Services followed by Thermo-Cor Kimmins. Karen was elected to the Niagara Falls Board of Education in 1994 and served until 1997. She worked at Teletech as well as Gray Line Tours of Niagara Falls in the late 1990’s, then dedicated herself to helping raise her grandchildren, by whom she was fondly called “Donnda.” In recent years, she was well known for being an active participant at the Parkway Condominiums board meetings, a heartfelt and inspiring resident, and for helping to create, coordinate, assemble, and distribute the Parkway Pulse newsletter.
Karen was pre-deceased by her longtime companion, Ottavio Rosini, and her son, Roger Haseley.
She is survived by a daughter, Tonya (Anthony Sr.) Cunningham, a son, Richard C. (Missy) Haseley, her former husband and forever friend Richard A. Haseley, seven grandchildren: Tiera (Adrione Sr.) Daniels, Bryanna (Cameron) Fryer, Jalen Walker-Cunningham, Aaliyah Daniel, Jasey Walker, Anthony E. Cunningham Jr., and Logan Haseley, and three great-grandchildren: Layla White, Adrione Jr. Daniels, and Tionne Daniels.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service and life celebration on Saturday, April 9th at 1:30 p.m. at First Congregational church, 822 Cleveland Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
