Marie Ahrens Mante
Longtime Rebekah Lodge member
BERGHOLZ - Marie (Ahrens) Mante, 85, of Stoelting Street, died Sunday (Oct. 20, 1985) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Elmwood, Ont., she had lived in Niagara Falls for 27 years and in Bergholz for 38 years. She had worked for several years for the former Krausmann's department store and had also worked in an area jewelry store and for over 20 years had managed the gift shop in the Castle Court Motel. She had been a member of the Riverdale Rebekah Lodge for over 50 years, and was a former Noble Grand and District Deputy. She was a member of the Past Noble Grands Association, the Past District Deputies Club of Niagara Rebekah District 1.2, St. James Lutheran Church, the Friendship Club of the Sanborn Senior Group, and most recently the Rebekah Lodge in North Tonawanda. She was an avid bingo player. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Shirley Lloyd of Niagara Falls; sister, Mrs. Sophia Hossfield of Walkerton, Ont.; brother, Edmund Ahrens of Elmwood, Ont.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the wife of the late Wally J. Mante and the late Fred Fairman and the sister of the late Hulda Ahrens, John Ahrens, Arthur Ahrens, and Fred Ahrens. The family will be present 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Otto Redanz Funeral Home; Inc., Michigan Avenue at Tenth Street. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John H. Crilley, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston. Contributions to St. James Lutheran Church are acceptable as tribute.
