- Sandra L. Smyth, of Pekin, passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at her home, under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on February 21, 1942, the daughter of the late Frederick and Dorothy (Waters) Hurst.
Mrs. Smyth graduated from Niagara Falls High School. She was a secretary with American Airlines before becoming a medical transcriptionist at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital for 15 years, and later with Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for 10 years. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching and was a sports and NASCAR fan.
Mrs. Smyth is survived by her husband of 45 years, James L. Smyth; one daughter, Paige (Thomas) Treat of Wheatfield; two brothers, Mark (Joyce) Hurst of Spring, TX and Frederick Hurst of Niagara Falls, NY; her mother-in-law, Mary Schimschack. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Sally (Don) Dash.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of her family. Memorials may be made in her name to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
