Ex-Telephone
One Foreman
Is Dead at 84
NIAGARA FALLS, Ont.
John Ross, 84. of 2404 Maitland
Ave., died Wednesday
(Jan. 16) at Greater Niagara
General Hospital shortly after
being admitted. Death was attributed
to an apparent heart
attack he suffered at his
home.
Born in Lancashire, England,
he came to Canada 60
years ago and settled in Woodstock,
Ont. .For 40 yeatjs, he
was a line foreman' for.the
Bell Telephone Co., retiring
in 1944. .
During his employment he
worked for various telephone
centers in Ontario and for a
short time in the Western
provinces.
He was a 50-year member of
St. Mark's Lodge No. 105,
AF&AM; Cataract Lodge No.
103, IOOF; and Blue Bell Re
bekah Lodge No. 68.
His wife, the former Harriet
Nash, died in 1950. Surviving
are a stepdaughter, Mrs. Randal
(Adeline) Sexsmith, with
whom he made his home; a
grandson, Dr. David Sexsmith,
and two great grandchildren,
Stephen and Margaret Sexsmith,
all of Stamford, Conn.;
and a sister, Mrs. Jenny Clatworthy,
Glens Falls, N.Y.
Funeral sen-ices will be
held at 4 p.m. Friday at the
Morse and Son Funeral Chap»
el. Burial will be in Lundy's
Lane Cemetery.
