John “Jack” Hanes, age 88 of the Town of Wheatfield, passed away on July 4, 2017. Jack was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran, serving from 1946-1954 in both WWII and Korea. He was the owner and operator of Jack Hanes Construction. He was a charter member of the Wheatfield Lions Club, a member of the Wheatfield Businessman’s Association, the Niagara Sportsman’s Club and was a past member of the Board of Community Missions. Jack was a licensed commercial pilot and licensed scuba diver. Beloved husband of Evelyn (nee Krull) Hanes for over 69 years. Dear father of Gary (Carol) Hanes of Ogden, UT, Mark (Lonny) Hanes of Clarence Center and the late Gregg Hanes. Grandfather of Jocelyn, Christopher (Jillian), Holland and Seth. Great-grandfather of Sawyer, Lincoln and Elliot. Brother of Dorothy Ostwald of Niagara Falls, NY, Linda (Robert) Mueller of Bergholtz, NY and Phyllis Mueller of California Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc. 1241 Oliver St. at Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda on Saturday, July 8th from 2-3:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 3:30 P.M. If so desired memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1135 Oliver St., North Tonawanda, NY 14120.
