Age 80 of North Tonawanda and formerly of the City of Tonawanda, at his residence under the care of Hospice. Husband of 60 years to Karen A. (nee Vanderheite) Shiesley, father of Pamela (Shaun O'Connor) Shiesley, Bradley, Kevin, Craig (Marie) and Jeffrey (Regina) Shiesley, grandfather of Nicholas, Austyn, Kale, Kyler, Julia, Lulu, Luke, Maggie and Connor and 3 great-grandchildren, son of the late Lester L., Sr. and Hazel (nee Mislin) Shiesley, brother of Lynn (Rochelle) and James (Barbara) Shiesley, brother of the late Robert, Vern (late Mary) and Gerald Shiesley, Jean (late Daniel) Emery, Arlene (late Irv) Jaenecke, Ronald Shiesley, Nancy (late Donald) Holler, Lee (living spouse Sharon) Shiesley, Betty (late Richard) Graham and John (living spouse Rosann) Shiesley. Also many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Lester was a 1962 graduate of Tonawanda High School. Les was employed by GM Tonawanda for 39 years, retiring on October 1, 2003. Les was a North Tonawanda JV and Assistant Varsity Football Coach for several years. He also served as Umpire in Chief for North Tonawanda Recreation Department for over 40 years, umpiring softball in NT and Tonawanda. He was president of NFBHSSO for high school and college softball for 15 years. Member of NY ASA sports officials. Les was also a member of GVAOWNY officiating college and high school volleyball for more than 20 years. He also officiated recreational volleyball in North Tonawanda, Tonawanda and Grand Island. Les was a past member of Eldredge Club, Third Ward Social Club and a present member of the Renaissance Club. He was a volunteer at DeGraff Memorial Hospital for many years. Les will be greatly missed by his family. The
family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday July 28, 2024 from 2-5 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), City of Tonawanda, where a Prayer Service will be conducted at 5 PM following the visitation. Everyone welcome to attend.
