WILSON — Margaret (Peg) (nee Dengate) Fournier, age 86, of Wilson, formerly of Niagara Falls and Ransomville, died at home under the care of Hospice.
Peg was born October 27, 1925, in Lititz, PA, the third child of the late Francis and Mary (McMahon) Dengate. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy High School in Lititz, PA, and from Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, with a bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, where she served on the editorial staff of the college newspaper, the Merciad. She moved with her family to Niagara Falls during WWII, where she met and married Camille J. Fournier in 1951; they lived briefly in Texas and then settled in Niagara Falls for several years, eventually moving to Ransomville in 1959, where they resided until 2009, when they relocated to the Village of Wilson.
While raising her family, she worked as a lab technologist for Ransomville Hospital and Mount St. Mary's Hospital, where she retired in 1992. In retirement, she was a Board of Election worker until her health deteriorated.
Peg was an active member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church/St. Brendan's on the Lake R.C. parish in Wilson. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bridge, traveling overseas, picnics and vacations to Allegany State Park and the Adirondacks.
Peg was predeceased by her brothers, Francis Dengate and William Dengate; and her sister, Mary Burbee. She is survived by her husband, Camille; her children, Patricia (late Gerald) Penna of Webster, NY, Terri (Randy) Ludlow of Utah, Paul Fournier of Ransomville, Joseph (Carole) Fournier of Lockport, Daniel (Diane) Fournier of Wilson, Michael (late Laurie) Fournier of Ohio, Leo (Gretchen) Fournier of Ransomville; and 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; brother-in-law; many nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
The family would like to thank the daily caregiving staff and the Niagara Hospice staff, including Patrick Eagan, and especially Katie Gannon, for their care and support in Peg's final months.
Friends and family may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville on Sunday from 2 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 30, at 10:00 AM in St. Brendan's on the Lake R.C. Church-Wilson Site, 345 Lake St. (Rt. 425), Wilson. (Please assemble at church.) Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven R.C. Cemetery, Town of Lewiston.
