- Paul Laverne Dutcher, age 51, of Gasport, entered into rest after fighting a courageous 6 year battle with cancer on Monday, January 4, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born December 31, 1958 in Medina, he was the son of James and Pauline Cook Mahar and the late LaVerne "Bernie" Dutcher.Paul served his country in the Army as a sharp shooter and auto mechanic. He entered in the service July 19, 1977 and was honorably discharged January 15, 1979. Paul worked as an Electrician for the New York State Canal Corporation in Rochester until 1999. He married Lisa Page on August 20, 1988. He had many hobbies including astronomy, computers, mechanical work, muscle cars, animals and lighthouses. Paul had a great love of music for all of his life. He had lived in Gasport since 1988; previously of Barker.Paul is survived by his loving wife, Lisa (Page) Dutcher. Dear father of Paige Lynn Dutcher and Anthony Dutcher. Son of Pauline (James) Mahar of Middleport and the late LaVerne "Bernie" Dutcher. Brother of Cindy (Jason) Dutcher Gillard of Elba and Kim (Cono) Dutcher Sammarco of Lockport. Nephew of Betty (Hare) Dutcher of Peoria, AZ, and John (Monica) Dutcher of Oregon. Cousin and friends, Danny (Valerie) Tarnish of Florida. Paul is also survived by Bruce Stisser who was like a brother to him, being his friend for over 35 years. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, NY on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Rodney Klinzing officiating. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery, Lockport, NY.
