WESTEBjmixs, Feb. i».Jehn George Grower
died in this village recently at the residence of
his son, John Grower. The deceased was born
in Wittemburg, Germany, January 13, 1791, and
was In his 91st year. He was s soldier snd
fought under Nspoleon It also against that- emperor
snd on the side of the sines. He was with
Napoleon in bis disastrous campaign to Moscow;
saw that city burned, and out of 180 Germans in
his company, only 18 returned alive, and some of
this number were wounded and sick. ' Mr. 0.
was in the wars six years, fought in 86 batiks,
was first and only wounded at Waterloo, und sr
Napoleon. He came to the United States n
1881 snd settled at Cape Vincent*in this stats,
where he resided until 1874, when he came o
Bve with his son at this place. He leaves fot ir
ehlldren, two sons and two daughters, twent rstk
grand children and seventeen great grazd
children.
