- MARYVILLE, Mo. - Florence Nadine Hilsenbeck Lamb, 87, Maryville, died Sunday, June 17, 2007. She was admitted to St. Francis Hospital in Maryville with pneumonia and later transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, where complications, unfortunately, took her life. She died in peace with her immediate family at her side.
Florence was born Aug. 3, 1919, in Maryville, the daughter of Thurman and Alma Carmichael. She was a graduate of Maryville High School and attended Northwest State Teacher's College.
She was first married to Clarence Donald "Don" Hilsenbeck on Nov. 5, 1938, in Hiawatha, Kan. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1967. Then Florence married Harley Remus Lamb on Jan. 4, 2002. He preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2004.
Florence lived in the Maryville area most of her life.
She attended the Laura Street Baptist Church, was a nationally-known genealogist and served the war effort as a welder in a shipyard during World War II. She worked at the local Montgomery Ward store between June, 1968, and June, 1981, and then at the JC Penney store until her retirement in the late 1990s.
Florence was generous and kind to everyone she knew. She loved life, and friends and family were her greatest achievement.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, John and Donald David Hilsenbeck; daughter, Donna Nadine McMichael; and three brothers, Joe, Ralph and Emmett Carmichael.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Hilsenbeck, and his wife, Shirley; and Kurt Hilsenbeck, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; daughter, Carol Coffelt, and her husband, Bryan, Skidmore, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a stepson, Coby Lamb, Maryville; stepdaughter, Robin Wilmes, Maryville; a brother, Bruce Carmichael, Lebanon, Mo.; and a sister, Betty Treese, Maryville.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, at Laura Street Baptist Church, Maryville. Burial will be in Miriam Cemetery, Maryville. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Price Funeral Home chapel, Maryville.
