- Gary C. Shomers, 79, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on June 29, 2021 at his residence in Cameron, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Frank and Gertrude (Pfeifer) Shomers.
Gary served proudly during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1965, and also served in the Air National Guard for 10 years. He married Joan (Seelbinder) Shomers, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years. In the late 1980’s, Gary and his wife moved to Cameron, NY. He enjoyed working on and painting cars and motorcycles. He was also a Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed watching NASCAR, and loved animals. He cherished the time he spent with his wife, and enjoyed going on trips to the local markets with her and their dog.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his children, Andrew Shomers, Kelly Kline, Karen Shomers, Gary (Joanne) Bradley and Marcia Bradley; his step-children Wm. Gordy Huff, Kandi Huff and Troy Huff; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; his siblings, Marilyn (late John) Thurman, Frances (late Donald) Schubert, and Roger (Jane) Shomers, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Timothy (Margaret) Shomers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 7 from 4 – 6 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will be held at 6 PM, concluding with Military Honors. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
