- John Erwin Witkop, age 77, of Lockport, NY, was called to his heavenly home on November 21, 2024, at the Absolut of Gasport facility. Born January 3,1947 in Lockport, NY. John was the son of Erwin and Marjorie (Smith) Witkop. He was employed at General Motors for 30 years. After retiring, he was bored so he then went to work at Ridge Road Express, driving for the Starpoint School District, and really enjoyed his time with the kids. John served in the United States Army for two years in Panama. He was a lifelong member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Pekin, NY. John enjoyed woodworking, attending sporting events for his children and grandchildren, going to the casino, and spending quality time with his family. Survivors include his loving wife, Roxann (Hymiak) Witkop. They were married for 53 "blissful" years; two children, Kimberly (Bob) Ratajczak and Gregory (MaryBeth) Witkop; five grandchildren, Alexis, Mark, Haili, and Malia Witkop, and Dylan Ratajczak; two sisters, Linda Beutel and Gail Scott; Brother-in-law, Todd Wiegand; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; a brother, Daniel Witkop; a sister, Diane Wiegand; and a brother-in-law Gerald Beutel.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Monday (November 25) from 4-7 p.m. Services will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m., with the Rev. Kurt Schultz, officiating. A private interment with the family, will take place in St. Andrew Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Niagara County SPCA.
