Gerald R. "Jerry" Lamp

Tonawanda — Gerald R. "Jerry" Lamp, age 75, of the City of Tonawanda, Friday, March 26, 2010 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Tonawanda, he was the son of the late John and Regina (nee Jaenecke) Lamp; and was the brother of the late Donald Lamp. Jerry was a 1952 graduate of Tonawanda High School and received his BA in Education from Buffalo State Teachers College in 1960. He had been employed by the Ken-Ton School District as a 4th Grade Teacher at Ben Franklin Elementary School for 32 years, retiring in 1992. He was a US Army Veteran serving in Korea during the Korean War, and was a member of Ken-Ton Masonic Lodge No. 1186, Ismailia Shrine, Tonawandas-Grand Island Shrine Club, Tonawandas' Post 264 American Legion and the Historical Society of the Tonawandas. Jerry was also an avid gardener and New York YankeesÕ fan. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Roxanne (nee Hall) Lamp; two sons, Michael (Michelle) Lamp of Tonawanda and James (Kelly) Lamp of Haverhill, MA; and three granddaughters, twins, Natalie and Katherine Lamp and Ashley Lamp; two sisters and a brother, Betty (the late Robert) Ewald of North Tonawanda, Robert (Ann) Lamp of Jamestown, NY and Ardys (Richard) Lerch of Cheektowaga; a sister-in-law, Virginia (the late Donald) Lamp of Orchard Park; and a brother-in-law, Roger (Diane) Hall of Tuscaloosa, AL; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.), in Tonawanda, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM Tuesday by the Rev. Robert J. Fink. A private interment will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Ismailia Shrine Travel Fund, Historical Society of the Tonawandas or to Hospice Buffalo, Inc. A Masonic Service will be conducted Monday at 7 PM by Ken-Ton Masonic Lodge #1186.
