- Vito Nicholas “Nick” Pera, 89, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2020, surrounded by his beloved family at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Enicandro and Anna (Quaranta) Pera.
Nick was raised in Niagara Falls and a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. On January 27, 1951, he married Lois Vivian (Beemer) Pera at St. Joseph Church. Mrs. Pera predeceased him on April 5, 2016 after 65 memorable years together.
Nick served during the Korean War in the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1957. He continued to serve in the United States Army Reserves as a First Sergeant for 32 years prior to his honorable discharge in 1990.
Nick had a strong work ethic and was employed for over 30 years by E.I. DuPont Company as a millwright, and later retired as a skilled craftsman. He loved to garden and took great pride in maintaining his beautiful residence. Above all, he was a devoted family man who always made sure his family was truly cared for. Mr. Pera will be deeply missed by the many hearts he touched.
Mr. Pera is survived by his children, Deborah Leilani (Jeffrey Dudzinski) Pera, Susan (Ed Shaw) Watson, Nicholas Pera and Kevin Pera; grandchildren, Nicole (Andy) Van Dusen, Robert Sweitzer, Holly Beth Sweitzer-Allein, John V. (Megan) Kowalski, Douglas Ryan Watson and Kaelie Just; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Madelyn, Joseph, Niko, Jade, Evalynn and Genevieve; his siblings Donald (Dorothy) Pera, Virginia Pera, Andrew (late Jan) Pera and Louise Pera; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Due to recent circumstances, funeral services and entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be held privately for the family.
