Delbert W. Hilbig, 88, of Cass City, formerly of Lockport, N.Y., died Sunday, Feb. 12, in Tendercare Nursing Center, Cass City, after a long illness. He was born July 12, 1906 in Punxsutawney, Pa., to William and Mary (Smouse) Hilbig. He married Marcella Koch in 1940 in Buffalo, N.Y. She died Feb. 25, 1962. Mr. Hilbig was the former owner/operator of the Buster Brown Shoe Store in Lockport, N.Y., for over 20 years. He is survived by his son, Donald (Beverly) Hilbig of Cass City; grandsons, Bill (Lori) Hilbig of San Antonio, Texas, and Bradley Hilbig of Nogales, Ariz.; 2 great granddaughters; sister, Miriam Mayer of Brownsville, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella; sisters, Madeline Dirling and Betty Thompson. Graveside services were scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cheek towaga, N. Y. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Suite 2255, 30600 Telegraph Road, Bingham Farms, MI 480254532, Interment will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga, N.Y. New York arrangements handled through Dietrich Funeral Home, Buffalo, N,Y. Arrangements were made by Little & Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City.
