LEWISTON — Andrew H. Nowak, surrounded by his loving family, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. The family is grateful for the dignity provided by Niagara Hospice.
Andrew grew up in Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. In 1960 he joined the Niagara Falls Police Force and retired after 27 dedicated years to the City of Niagara Falls.
Andrew is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet (Sullivan) Nowak. Andrew will be lovingly remembered by his three sons, Martin of Lewiston, Vincent of Texas, and Sean (Erin) of Illinois; three daughters, Linda Hardison of Lewiston, Diane (Joe) Ippolito of Grand Island, and Katherine Nowak (Miles Smith) of Sewickley, PA. Andrew H. was predeceased this year by a son, Andrew V. Nowak. He is also survived by grandchildren, Eric, Samantha, James, Ryan, Sean, Jayden, Gregory, Evan, Ian, Nicole, Rachel, Kyle, Lila and Whitney and great-grandchildren, McKenna and Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews. Andrew will also be remembered by his brothers, Thomas (Jo) of Mississippi, Steven (Donna) of Niagara Falls, and Leonard (Karen) of Niagara Falls; and sisters, Pauline (late Myron) Pucak and Margie (John) Urban, both of Niagara Falls. Andrew was predeceased by brothers, Henry, Martin, Stanley, Frank, Philip and Paul; and two sisters, Helen Oliver and Mary Jane Baggos.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Friday from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Robert Hughson on Saturday, December 11th at 10 AM at the St Vincent de Paul Parish, Prince of Peace site at 1055 N. Military Rd. (Please assemble at church.) Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Holy Angels Mausoleum.
