LEWISTON — Joan Crotty, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston, NY.
She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on August 29, 1932, the daughter of the late Peter J. Crotty and Genevieve (Sullivan) Crotty.
Joan went to Scared Heart School and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1950. She started with the telephone company the day after graduation and retired after 30 years in 1980.
Joan was always happy taking care of her mother whom she loved so much. "Mom Crotty" was known and loved by everyone on Linwood Avenue.
She went to Mass and Communion everyday until she could not do it any more. Father Jim would say Mass and bring Communion to the house. Joan enjoyed visitors and company; the door was open for everyone. She was loved by everyone and will be sadly missed.
Joan is survived by one brother, William (Pat) Crotty; two nieces, Kathleen Williams and Chrissy Dukta; also several great-nieces and nephews. She had many good friends, Nancy Dorato, Ada Mort, Pauline Demspey, Dee-Dee Polley, Amy Ciskiewis, Linda Dillen, Rose Paulson and Jay, who helped her throughout the years. She was the sister of the late brother Father John C. Crotty, S.S.J.
There will be no prior visitation as Joan donated her body to the University of Buffalo School of Medicine. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, at 10:00 AM, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 259 Fourth Street, Niagara Falls, NY, with the Rev. Jacek P. Mazur officiating.
