- Middleport: Margaret Mary Antonucci Droman, age 95, passed away on March 1, 2021. She was the wife of the late George Parmlee Droman. She was born on June 2, 1925 in Middleport a daughter of the late August and Philomena Nicolia Antonucci. She graduated from Middleport High School, attended Bryant and Stratton and Fiscal Officers Schools.Margaret was employed by the Village of Middleport as Clerk-Treasurer and Registrar of Vital Statistics for 37 years before retiring in 1999. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Medina Memorial Health Care Foundation, Middleport Senior Citizens, Middleport Remediation Advisory Group, and Lewis Wilmot Charitable Foundation. She was also a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, where she served on several committees, the Middleport Rotary Club serving two years as president and 15 years as treasurer. She was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award which is the highest honor Rotary can bestow on a person, in recognition of outstanding contributions, exemplifying the highest ideal in Rotary and placing “Service Above Self”. In 1978 New York State named “Margaret Droman Park” in recognition of her many years as a full-time dedicated employee in the Village of Middleport. Upon retirement, Margaret was known as a “professional volunteer”, always willing to assist in many community endeavors.Widow of the late George P. Droman and she was also predeceased by her son James W. Droman, sister, Elizabeth A. (Elmer) Wagner, Julius N. Antonucci, and brother-in-law, Arthur R. Wittkopp.Margaret is survived by her daughter-in-law, Carole F. Droman, granddaughter, Billie Ann, grandson, James George, great-granddaughter, Rachel Nicole, and great-great-granddaughter, Danielle Julieann and Kinsley, several dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.There will be no prior calling hours. Margaret’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Stephen’s Church 21 Vernon St. Middleport, NY 14105 on Saturday, March 6th at 11:00am. Interment will be held in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Margaret’s name may be made to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094 or a hospice of your choice.
