Robert H. Swick
Killed in Action
Looses Life in Naval Encounter
in South Pacific.
Robert Harold Swick, seaman,
first class, U. S. Navy, has been
killed In action In the South Paclfic.
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold I.
Swick, 1118 Niagara avenue, were
notified on Thursday in a telegram
which they received from the
Navy department at Washington,
D. C. The message stated that further
particulars would be forwarded
at an early date.
Seaman Swick was a graduate of
the LaSalle high school here with
the class of 1938. He attended Alfred
university for two years and
would have graduated this year. A
member of the Naval Reserve, he
was called into active service by
the government in April, 1940. An
ardent golfer, Seaman Swick was a
member of the Alfred university
golf team. He was Niagara Falls
junior city golf champion in 1938.
At Alfred he was a prominent member
of the Delta. Sigma Phi fraternity.
Surviving the young seaman, besides
his parents, are two brothers,
William and Donald, and two sisters,
Sally and Sue, all of this
city.
