NIAGARA FALLS — Lloyd E. Schrack, Jr., "Butch", passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013. Lloyd was born August 24, 1934 in Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital to Lloyd Sr. and Ivy (Hilts).
Lloyd Jr. graduated from DeVeaux Repertory School in 1954 and Tusculum College, Greeneville, TN in 1958 with a BS in Science. He was a member of the New York State Army National Guard. He worked as a M1 sharpshooter and gunner and was honorably discharged in 1962.
Lloyd was also a graduate from Simmons Mortuary School in Syracuse, NY in 1982, and a graduate of Niagara University in 1993 where he earned a MS Edu. Lloyd was Vice President of Schrack Oil Company for 20 years. He was most recently employed by Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara as an Employment Specialist for 23 years.
Lloyd was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Niagara Falls, co-chairman of the trustees and a certified lay minister. Lloyd enjoyed giving communion to the shut-ins, helped with church functions, and was a member of the bell choir and men's group. He was past president of the Niagara Rocks and Mineral Club, belonged to the Masonic Lodge #1049, and was past president of the Niagara Oil Heat Association. He was a past member of the LaSalle Yacht Club and the Niagara Club. He was a current member of the LaSalle Sportsman's Club. His hobbies included gardening, sailing, canoeing, trap shooting, rocks and mineral collecting and kite flying. During the past 50 years he spent his summers in East Sebago Lake, ME.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Rose Marie. He is also survived by three sons, Lloyd E. III (Mimi), Mark M. (Stephanie), Kent S. (Cara); two stepsons, Robert Ambrosetti (Anne), Joseph Ambrosetti (Kristen); 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Robert (Betty); sisters, Betty Tappan-Sharer, Jane Israel (Emmett), Marilyn Kane. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, John R. and great-granddaughter, Stella B. Richards.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, on Monday, June 3, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 8210 Buffalo Avenue, at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery in the Town of Pendleton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Schrack's name to First United Methodist Church, 8210 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
