Mrs. Eva Swick Brace,
who was a t e a c h e r for 25
y e ars in Pine Woods
School, is to c e l e b r a t e her
100th b i r t h d a y on Aug. 13.
Mrs. Brace makes her home
with a daughter, Mrs. Clayton E.
Holder, 857 Morley Court. Dear
born. Mich. According to Tonawandans
who have visited her
during she past year, she is remarkably
alert tor her "remarkable"
age.
Each year former pupils and
friends here remember '"teacher"
with greetings and cards on her
birthday and Mrs. Brace looks
forward to this milestone with
more than ordinary anticipation.
Mrs. Brace, born in the Town
of Wilson m 1858 to pioneer farm
parents, was one of nine children.
Her father alternated farm duties
with teaching and insisted fine
educations for his children.
The young Eva followed his example
and became a teacher, assuming
her first position in the
high school at Williamsport. Pa.
She was married to Jason Brace
and they returned to Wilson where
their daughter, Elsa was born.
When they had been married three
years, Mr Brace died and Mrs.
Brace returned to her leaching
vocation.
In North Tonawanda, she taught
under the regimes of Superintendents,
Marsh. Beardsley and Searing
She has many friends in the
Tonawandas and in Niagara Falls.
Mrs. Marion Husband, formerly
of Delaware now living in Florida,
is a niece.
