Wilson, Sept. 24.-Leander E . C a r e y
one of Wilson's best known fruit and
g a r d e n t r u c k f a rme r s , died a t a
Lockport hospital Thursday morning.
He was taken ill with appendicitis on
F r i d a y and was taken to the
tal on Saturday. An operation was
performed that afternoon but it was
found that the appendix had burst,
Hensuffered, great pain before the
end came. He was born In Lewiston
48 y e a r s ago a n d . c a m e to this town
to reside at the age of 15 years.
L a t e r he spent ten years in Niagara
F a l l s where he had a wide acquainta
n c e and the remainder of his life
was spent here. He was a member of
O n t a r i o Lodge No. 376, F. and A.
M. of this place, the Warren's Cor-
ners grange and the North Ridge
Methodist church. He was an active
Republican in politics and at the time
of his death inspector of election of
the second election district serving as
such at the county primaries held
September 13. Surviving are
and one son, Russell Carey, a n d
ono daughter. Luella Carey, both at
home: on sister, Mrs. I r a W. Swlck
of N i a g a r a Falls, a n d one half broth-
er. Hamilton H. Swick of Newf ate.
The funeral was held at the family
home on the Town Line road this
afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Robert
H. F a i r b u r n of the Wilson Methodist
church officiating assisted by Rev.
A r t h u r Burko of the orth Ridge
Methodist church. The interment
was in o r t h Ridge cemetery.
