BELLEVUE, OH — Carol A. Harkelroad, age 71, of Bellevue, OH, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Elmwood at the Springs, Green Springs. She was born September 19, 1939 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of the late Zygmunt and Idabell (Strablow) Tarnowski.
Carol was a homemaker and drove school bus for Bellevue City Schools for many years. She raised 90 foster children. Carol and her husband owned and operated Don’s Pizza Shop for over 18 years.
Carol was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Lyme Grange, the Advisory Board for Sandusky County Children’s Services and Sandusky County Board of Elections.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Donald E. Harkelroad, whom she married September 19, 1959 in Lockport, NY; daughter, Tammy Harkelroad of Bellevue, OH; brother, Alan Tarnowski or Ransomville, NY; sisters, Jane Murr-Harmon of Scottsdale, AZ, Sue Timmons of Bellevue, OH and Cindy Freeman of Castalia, OH. Her parents preceded her in death.
Friends were received Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 4–8 PM at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 231 E. Center St., Bellevue. Burial will follow at Bellevue Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the 7th grade class at Immaculate Conception School, 304 E. Main St., Bellevue, OH 44811 for their 8th grade trip.
