Missing since November, 1944.
after an army C-47 transport plane
mysteriously disappeared during a
flight from New Guinea to Australia.
Lieutenant William K. Taylor.
Jr.. son of Mr. and Mrs. W. k .
Taylor of 1926 La Salle avenue, is
now officially listed as dead. It was
learned over the weekend from the
War department.
According to the official report,
the Falls Air Force man. along
with other army personnel, had
boarded the plane for a Thanksj
giving leave to Sydney. Australia.
The plane was not seen again after
takeoff.
Captain Earle Smith, of this city
told Lieutenant Taylor's parents
that only new orders kept him from
Joining the Falls officer and other
Western New Yorkers on the trip.
Lieutenant Taylor was a graduate
of Niagara university's school of
business, and former manager of
the International Cooperage company's
plant at Taunton Mass. He
was Inducted Into the army In 1942.
He was a brother of Mrs. Michael
O'Laughlin. this city, and Robert G.
Taylor, of the United States Navy
