BUFFALO — Joseph A. Marino, of Lewiston, NY, passed away after an 11-year courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, October 23, 2011, in Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on September 9, 1933, the son of the late Andrew R. and Grace (Tedesco) Marino.
Mr. Marino was a graduate of both Niagara Falls High School and Niagara University. He was a Staff Sargent with the US Air Force. He was employed with Moore Business Forms and later with Bell Aero Space, as the purchasing manager for over 30 years, before retiring in 1991.
Mr. Marino was a Bass player to the Niagara Falls Musicians Union since he was 14 years old. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, also playing golf and traveling.
Mr. Marino is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eileen (Peuss) Marino; two sons, Martin (Carol) Marino of Southern Illinois, Andrew (Terri Most) Marino of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Mary Jo (David) Rhodes and Kathleen (Mick) Pontalti, both of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Delaney Rhodes, Christian and Emma Pontalti; one sister, Geraldine (Norman) Latham of Niagara Falls, NY; one nephew, Michael Latham of Estero, FL; and one niece, Laurie House of Niagara Falls, NY; also several additional nieces and nephews.
The family will be present on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:30 AM, at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY, with the Rev. Michael P. Zuffoletto officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, P.O. Box 631, Buffalo, NY. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
