She implemented the Crossroads Caf pilot program for ESL students to learn English at home. After relocating with her husband to Charlotte, NC in 1997, she taught ESL at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She also established and taught ESL classes at her parish, Our Lady of the Assumption, as well as helping with other parish activities. Maralee loved her students and was loved by them.
