NIAGARA FALLS —
Richard J. "Richie" Miller, 54, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Thursday, August 1, 2013 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born on September 19, 1958 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick and Cecilia (Godlewski) Miller.
Mr. Miller was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. On April 10, 1975, Richie, as he was known by family and friends, married the former Jaydeas "Marie" DeWeen. For twenty years, he worked as a chemical operator for Alox Corporation and was currently employed as a plumber for Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel. Mr. Miller was an active member of Niagara Active Hose Volunteer Fire Company in the Town of Niagara, NY, where he was currently serving as a Captain. Richie was a talented carpenter and enjoyed helping others with projects. He was also an avid sportsman and Buffalo Sabres fan. Mr. Miller enjoyed camping and his Tim Horton's Medium Double Double coffee.
In addition to his beloved wife of over thirty-eight years, Mr. Miller is survived by four children, Richard "Richie" Miller, Jr. of Lockport, NY, Vanessa Miller of Niagara Falls, NY, Cameron (Kassie Sillett) Miller of Niagara Falls, NY and Tabitha "Tia" Miller of Niagara Falls, NY; and five grandchildren, Cia-ya and Rylie Miller, Kieran and Kari Klinger and Mya Peanut Miller. Richie is also survived by one sister, Carol (Gary) Tickett of Niagara Falls, NY; one brother, James (Cindy) Godlewski of Niagara Falls, NY; his special niece, Judy (Vic) Muto of Lewiston, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" (Larry of Niagara Falls, NY) LaFreniere.
The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007) where a funeral service will be held on Monday, August 5th at 10:00 AM with Rev. Pat Fleming officiating. Prayers of committal will follow in the Chapel of Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery in Lewiston, NY. A Firemen Prayer Service will conclude visitation on Sunday with Deacon Patrick J. Bradley officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined.
