Richard Allen Lauer
Richard Allen Lauer, 72, a Marine Corps veteran and former Niagara Falls resident, died Aug. 8, 2001, in the Odessa, Texas, Medical Center after a short illness.
Born in Niagara Falls, he attended local schools. He served with the Marine Corps in the Korean War from 1952 to 1955.
He worked as a laborer for the New York State Power Authority, the Stauffer Chemical Co. in Niagara Falls and Ayers-Witmer Lumber Co. in Buffalo.
He was a keen sports fan, especially of baseball, and also enjoyed gardening and swimming. He was a former member of the Epiphany Episcopal Church and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, both of Niagara Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; a daughter, Terri of Buffalo; two brothers, Lewis F. of Youngstown and Arthur W. of Butler, Ohio; and a sister, Diane Havens of Niagara Falls.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in Hardison Funeral Home, North Fourth and Ridge streets, Lewiston. Burial was private.
