- Benjamin F. WERTH
WERTH - Benjamin F. Age 96; formerly of Hamburg, NY; passed away peacefully on June 7, 2010 in Brandon, FL. Ben was born in North Tonawanda, NY on January 17, 1914. He was a graduate of Canisius College, editor of the Golden Griffin Newspaper, recipient of the Alumni Association's distinguished LaSalle Medal and member of the prestigious DiGamma Honor Society. He was married to the late Genevieve Looze Werth for 46 years. Ben was Secretary/Treasurer and Manager for Snyder Tank Corporation for 36 years. He also held the office of Treasurer for the Frontier Central School District for 33 years. Ben was active in numerous community organizations and St. Mary's of the Lake Church. His outgoing personality and keen sense of humor endeared him to all. Ben is predeceased by his parents Benjamin Sr. and Gertrude Metzler Werth, wife Genevieve Looze Werth, sister Amelia Werth Doherty, and son-in-law Vito Stagliano. Ben is survived by his brother Charles Werth of Forrest Hills, NY and his children Julie Stagliano of Chicago, IL, Paula Reitz (Richard) of Rochester, NY, and Gregory Werth (Dona) of Brandon, FL. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Jason and Carlos Stagliano, Andrew and Adam Reitz, Matthew and Stephen Werth, Heather Gray and Mechelle Howard, plus 2 great-grandchildren, Siena Reitz and Brody Silor. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 3, 2010 at Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home in Hamburg, NY, with interment at St. Aloysius Cemetery, Springville, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ben's memory to the RACF Brighton Retirees' Scholarship Fund, 500 East Ave., Rochester, NY 14607.
