Shirley Turner,
Taylor Powell Wed
A lovely fall wedding was solemnized
in picturesque little St. John's
Episcopal church, Youngstown at
noon today when Miss Shirley A.
Turner, Youngstown, was united in
marriage to Mr. Taylor E. Powell,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron T.
Powell, Pletcher road, Lewiston.
Baskets of bronze and yellow
chrysanthemums made an effective
background in the church. Mrs. Edward
Andrews provided the musical
setting and the Rev. A. C. French
officiated at the double ring ceremony.
Miss Turner, the daughter of Mrs.
Marion B. Turner. Buffalo, was escorted
to the altar by her uncle,
Mr. Edward Jaycox. Youngstown.
She was attired in a regal candlelight
satin gown, the fitted bodice
made with yoke and high collar of
Jace. The skirt fell in deep folds to
a court train. Her finger-tip illusion
veil was attached to a Juliet cap of
satin with clusters of orange blossoms
at the sides. The bride carried
a colonial bouquet of baby white
chrysanthemums with a red rose
center.
Miss Pauline E. Turner, Buffalo,
the bride's sister, was her maid of
honor. She wore a light blue satin
floor-length gown with bouffant
over-skirt of matching net. The offthe-
jhoulder bodice was worn with
matching short cape of satin. A
light blue picture hat of nylon net
with satin bow in back completed
her costume. She carried a colonial
bouquet of pink chrysanthemums.
The two bridesmaids were Mrs.
John Powell, who wore a gown of
yellow .satin similar to the maid of
honor's and carried lavender chrysanthemums,
and Miss Betty Allenheim.
who wore lavender satin and
carried yellow chrysanthemums.
Mr. John Gibbons. Youngstown,
was the best man and as ushers the
bridegroom had his cousin. Mr
John Powell, and Sgt. Kenneth
Ford, USAF, Shawnee.
The mother of the bride wore a
toast colored taffeta suit, matching
hat and accessories and a corsage of
yellow mums.
From 1 to 4 p.m. this afternoon
a reception was held at Ye Old
Fort inn. Youngstown.
For a motor trip to Louisville, Ky.,
the bride will wear a gray wool
suit with black velvet hat and accessories.
With this she will have a
corsage of red rose buds. Following
the honeymoon Mr. and Mrs. Powell
wll be at home at Pletcher road
