LEWISTON — Helen I. Marquart, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, Lewiston, NY.
She was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on April 19, 1921, the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Pearson) Johnson.
Mrs. Marquart moved to Niagara Falls, NY, with her family in 1929. She graduated from LaSalle High School. She moved to Sanborn in 1934.
Mrs. Marquart was employed at Niagara Wheatfield High School, M&T Bank and at the Sanborn Library. She was a member of Sanborn United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. Mrs. Marquart enjoyed reading and knitting.
She was the wife of the late Roy Marquart, who died in September of 1987.
Mrs. Marquart is survived by one son, Robert W. (Jane Hoffman) Marquart of Cordova, TN; three daughters, Linda (late Gerald) Hoffman of Rochester, NY, Dorothy (Ernest) Macchio of Grand Island, NY, and Elizabeth A. Marquart of Charleston, WV; seven grandchildren, Kurt, Scott, Cheryl, Laurie, Lisa, Bill and Stephanie; a brother, Ross (Jane) Johnson. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of several deceased brothers and sisters.
There will be no prior visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 3:00 PM at Hope United Methodist Church, 2914 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. Matthew D. Kofahl officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to Hope United Methodist Church. Inurnment at the wishes of her family in North Ridge Cemetery, Town of Cambria, NY. Arrangements made through the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, SANBORN, NY.
