- Robert F. Batt, age 101, formerly of Tonawanda, died Friday, December 22, 2017 at Elderwood at Wheatfield. Born April 18, 1916 in North Tonawanda, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary (nee Fitzpatrick) Batt. He was a decorated Army Veteran of WWII, participating in both the D-Day Invasion of France and the Battle of the Bulge. He worked as a self-employed painter and paper hanger in the Tonawandas before retiring and had been a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Tonawanda.
He was the husband of Delores (nee Behm) Batt; father of Kathleen (the late Richard) Patrick of Lockport and the late Pamela Mae Batt, Robert F. Batt, Jr., and Janet (Jay) Holler. Also surviving are his daughter-in-law, Susan Batt of San Diego, California; 5 grandchildren, Steven (Barbara) Ford of Highland Heights, Ohio, Douglas Ford of Lockport, Eric (Traci) Ford of Medina, Hannah (Dustin) Carey of South Carolina, and Nicholas Batt of Chicago, Illinois; four great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Carolyn, Suzanne, and Allison Ford, all of Highland Heights, Ohio.
Services will be cared for privately at the convenience of the family with inurnment at St. Francis of Assisi Chapel Columbarium in Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to the St. Francis Chapel Fund, 73 Adam Street, Tonawanda, New York 14150, are preferred.
