  Evening News of the Tonawandas April 1894 ANOTHER DEATH Mrs. Catherine Karkau Succumbs to the Grim Monster Mrs. Catherine Karkau died at her home on Schenck street yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the age of 53 years. The cause of death was stomach trouble. The deceased came to this country from Germany thirteen years ago and immediately settled in North Tonawanda. Mrs. Karkau leaves a husband, who is employed by Smith, Fassett & Co., and six children, three sons and three daughters. One of the latter, Miss May, aged 13 years, is lying seriously ill with typhoid fever. The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon, the service being held at the home at 1 o'clock and at Frieden's church at 2 o'clock.
