- BUFFALO — Jerry Rutland, of Olcott, NY, husband of Ruth Bruning Rutland, entered into rest Friday, July 30, 2010, in Buffalo General Hospital. He was born in Wilson, NY, October 15, 1932, the son of the late Richard L. and Onalee Mahl Rutland. A Navy Veteran who served his country from 1952-1956 and served on the USS Rochester. Jerry worked for Lockport Memorial Hospital as Asst. Administrator for many years, then was a negotiator for Superintendent Association of New York State. He had lived most of his life in Olcott. Jerry was one of Olcott’s most ardent YANKEES’ fan. Life member of Olcott Fire Company. Charter member of Olcott Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post in Little Valley, NY where he enjoyed many years of deer hunting. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Father of Deborah E. Rutland of St. Petersburg, FL, Denise M. (John) Barnett of Ocoee, FL, Cindy R. (Nelson Jex) Farina and William C. (Tammy) Rutland, both of Lockport, NY. Cherished Bompa of Lisa and Glen Butler, Jerad Riddle, John and Brian Barnett, Nicolette and Kyle Rutland and Matthew Farina. Brother of Cleo Semple of Boston, MA and the late Richard C. Rutland, Kenneth Rutland and William Rutland. Also survived by two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY, MONDAY 7-9 PM and TUESDAY 2-4 & 7-9 PM, where funeral services will be held WEDNESDAY at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Corwin Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorials to Olcott Lions Club or Olcott Fire Company would be appreciated by the family.
