- Marie A. Filicetti, 99, of Niagara Falls, NY went home to be with her Heavenly Father on July 14, 2020 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Grace Vilardo.
Marie attended local schools graduating from Trott Vocational High School. On October 6, 1945, she married Louis F. Filicetti. Mr. Filicetti predeceased her on April 2, 2013. During the 1940’s Marie worked at Grant’s Department Store and Kimberly Clark. Marie was later employed as a lunch monitor from the mid 1960’s to the mid 1980’s at 66th Street Elementary School and finally LaSalle Senior High School.
Marie loved being an active part of her community. She knitted and crocheted newborn hats and blankets to donate to the babies in local hospitals. Marie volunteered at Artpark as an usher and at her church. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society as well as the Parent Teacher Association at Prince of Peace, serving as President in 1963 - 1964. Marie centered her life around her family. When she wasn’t cooking for her family or volunteering at her church, you could find Marie dancing the night away.
Marie is survived by her children, Gloria (Chris) Stanz, Gilda Bonnevie and Patricia (late Serofino) Giambattista; her grandchildren, Michael (Joanne Willard) Stanz, Annemarie (Marc) Selvitelli, David (Amanda) Urbaniak, Teresa (Christopher) Chapman, Phillip (Danielle) Bonnevie, Julie (Christopher) Scott, Michele (William) Vaughn, Andrea (Gordon) Stevens, and Sammy Giambattista; eighteen great-grandchildren, and her brother, Thomas (late Rosemary) Vilardo as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie was predeceased by her daughter, Marcia (Stephen) Urbaniak, and her siblings, Sarah (late Philip) LaSpisa, Jennie (late Angelo) Muscarello, Nicholas (late Mary) Vilardo, Larry (late Lucy) Vilardo, Carrie (late Joe) Agugliaro, Josephine (late Alex) DiPaolo and Lucy (late Joseph) DeDario.
Marie enjoyed her activities at Schoellkopf and was truly helpful to the residents there. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Schoellkopf for their excellent care and compassion to Marie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17 from 4 - 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304 where services will begin on Saturday at 11:45 AM followed by Marie’s Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
