George A. Riscili, 93, of Grand Island, formerly of Niagara Falls passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 in Elderwood of Grand Island. Born in Westfield, NY on August 26, 1925, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pauline Riscili.
Mr. Riscili lived in Niagara Falls most of his life and recently moved to Grand Island to live with his son Joe for the past six years. George proudly served with the Navy Seabees 57th Battalion in the South Pacific from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. On April 16, 1947 George married the former Rose T. Gaetano in St. Joseph Church. Rose predeceased George on April 29, 2008. George worked for Hooker Chemical in the refrigeration department and retired in 1983.
Mr. Riscili was a model train enthusiast. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and basking in the sun with his dog Bailey.
George is survived by his children, Joseph (Melanie) Riscili and Thomas (Rosemarie) Riscili; seven grandchildren, Michael (Christine) Riscili, Mathew (Kathleen) Riscili, Leigh (Paul) Smith, Amy (Mark) Gardner, Jennifer Riscili, Thomas (Emily) Riscili, Jr. and Jessica Riscili; ten great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Elliana, Andrew, Benjamin, Gabriel, Gavin, Trip, Samantha and Elizabeth; sister, Angie (late Peter) Patruno; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Demico and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife of 61 years, Mr. Riscili was predeceased by his sisters, Frances Natale, Carrie Cammarata, Jennie Virga, Josephine Herkey, Rose Ungaro and Santa Ferro.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, December 16th from 2 – 8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Monday at 9:15 A.M. followed by George’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Burial concluding with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
