- BATT - Robert Francis, Jr. Age 60, passed away in San Diego, July 24, 2012 from complications of mantle cell lymphoma. Born March 7, 1952 and graduated from Tonawanda High School and SUNY-Delhi, his career in foodservice design took him to Washington, DC, Pittsburgh and Ohio. He worked at KFC Headquarters, where he enjoyed communicating with "The Colonel" via CB radio. Rob moved to San Diego in 1982 to work for Foodmaker (Jack-in-the-Box) before opening Rob Batt Design in 1985. He was self-employed for 16 years. In 2001 he began his favorite position as Associate Director of Planning and Construction for Housing-Dining-Hospitality at University of California - San Diego. Rob loved the outdoors and every activity his children were involved in. His creative mind, sense of humor, generous heart, strength and devotion to family and friends endeared him to all. Survived by his wife of 27 years, Susan; daughter, Hannah; son, Nicholas; parents, Delores and Robert Batt of Clearwater, FL (formerly of Tonawanda); sister, Kathleen Patrick of Lockport, NY; nephews, Steven Ford (Barbara), Douglas Ford, and Eric Ford (Traci); and Godmother, Janet Holler of Tonawanda. Preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Batt, in 2000. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Francis Chapel or to Niagara Hospice, Sunset Drive in Lockport.
