NEWFANE — Garry S. Hoover, of Newfane, NY, husband of Lori Bowers Hoover, entered into rest Monday, September 6, 2010 in Niagara Hospice House. He was born in North Tonawanda, NY, on June 15, 1959, son of the late Richard and Laurane Hedger Hoover.
Garry and his wife, Lori, currently own and operate Honeymoon Trail Winery on Ridge Road in Lockport. He was a natural at winemaking, well known for his award winning wines. Garry previously worked for Chemical Waste Management in Lewiston and Hazmat Environmental in Lackawanna. He moved to Newfane two years ago coming from Sanborn. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Newfane and very much enjoyed talking to others about the Bible. He was a member of the Tonawanda Sportsman Club where he shot trap and skeet and was the State Champion in Class C Trap. Garry was fishing charter captain of the "Corporate Cruiser" in Wilson. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and listening to country and classic rock music.
Father of Jeremy (Jenel) Hoover of Lockport, Gabrielle Hoover of East Amherst, Jessica Bowers of Lockport and Joseph Hoover at home. Grandfather of Dylan Hoover and Alana Davis. Brother of Richard (Joyce) Hoover of East Amherst, Nancy (Darrel) Steele and Kathleen (late Mitchell) Beaver, both of San Tan Valley, AZ, Laury (Bruce) Weinheimer of Sanborn and the late Wayne Bush. Son-in-law of Robert and Marleen Bowers of Lockport. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
No prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 6452 Charlotteville Road, Newfane, NY, followed immediately by a reception at Honeymoon Trail Winery, 4120 Ridge Road, Lockport, NY. Officiating will be David Pritchard. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lori Hoover at the winery for their son Joseph's education fund or the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 6452 Charlotteville Road, Newfane, NY 14108 would be appreciated by the family.
